5 Artistic Ways to Elevate the Botanical Trend

9th March 2021

Wedding floristry is all about making beautiful memories. Whether we’re designing for a corporate event, private party or wedding we want guests to remember the flowers long after the day has passed. This is one reason why we love the botanical look and the fact that it never fails to turn heads.

Here are some thoughts on how adding a touch of artistry and stagecraft can really take everything up a level and captivate people from the very first moment.

Stage management

We always regard any event space as a stage. Such a lot of thought goes into planning how the floral installations will be positioned within a venue to generate the desired level of drama and the overall feel required for the day. When planning an event, look at the space from every angle and be mindful of obstacles to hide and theatrical opportunities to enhance.

Collectables

We are always on the lookout for interesting pieces to add to our collection of event styling accessories. Our most recent find is a pair of elegant vintage French chairs which will be stunning for a couple to sit on. Imagine them positioned under a tall elegant blossom tree complete with garden planting around the base. What a beautiful way to start married life!

Attention to detail

To make the botanical look work on every level it’s important to pay homage to its softer side. Statement overgrown urns or lush ceiling installations can be complemented by simple and yet, very stylish table centres. Pretty etched glass vases or mottled green glass bottles with a fragrant garden rose or a blousy hydrangea head look truly romantic with a delicate trail of jasmine and flowing eucalyptus foliage added.

Candlelight

Twinkling candlelight can elevate an impressive botanical theme into an astonishing one. Whatever preconceived ideas you have of storm lanterns and tealights, leave them at the door! The way we like to use candles puts them at the heart of the design, shining out from abundant florals with rich foliage, textured seed heads and large headed statement roses. Imagine the natural branches of blossom and foliage gently lit, their bases surrounded by flickering candlelight and you begin to form a truly beautiful picture.
